Work For Life!

Good Health for Life is providing 10 professional development scholarships for entrepreneurial cancer survivors.

The Good Health for Life “Entrepreneurship Scholarship Program for Cancer Survivors — Work For Life!” is the nation’s only major scholarship program supporting the philosophy of entrepreneurship for cancer survivors rather than a specific profession.  The scholarship prize worth up to $25,000 is awarded to a cancer survivor who demonstrates leadership, ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit.  The scholarship will entitle the recipient to attend the Good Health for Life Entrepreneurship Center’s one year business development program to successfully plan, develop and implement their ideas.

Application

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be 21 years of age or older and also a cancer survivor.  Applications can be submitted directly to Good Health for Life or through our healthcare partners at the Stanford University Medical Center or Women’s Cancer Center.

Entrepreneurs pursuing this scholarship must have an idea for a business or have an existing business that needs help to be successful.

Describe your leadership skills and how you expect the education this scholarship provides will help you grow as a leader in your home, community and professional life.  Also describe how this training will enhance the success of your enterprise.

Describe your interest in entrepreneurship education and how you plan to use this entrepreneurship scholarship for your professional development.  Also describe how you plan to use what you learn from this scholarship to start a business.  If you already have an existing enterprise, describe how the education this scholarship provides will help you improve it.

Good Health for Life is awarding 10 scholarships with a value of up to $25,000 each to entrepreneurial cancer survivors on the basis of the applicant’s

· Interest in entrepreneurship education

· Leadership ability

· Good Health for Life involvement

The 10 winners must use their professional development scholarships for training in the Good Health for Life Entrepreneurship Center. 

 

Time Frame

· The application deadline is December 31, 2004.

· Winners will be announced in January 2005.

By March 2005, scholarship winners must submit a brief report to Good Health for Life outlining how the entrepreneurship training is helping them build a business.

 

Application Procedure

The completed application form and the necessary substantiating information should be forwarded directly to Good Health for Life, postmarked no later than December 31, 2004.

The following items must be included with each application:

1. A statement of interest in entrepreneurship education/plans for using the scholarship for professional development

2. A statement of leadership ability

3. A statement of Good Health for Life involvement

4. Letters of recommendation from a healthcare provider and community leader
